Nylon webbing, PP ribbon And polyester webbing are widely used in life. But how to distinguish the difference between the three, and how to purchase the webbing you want? You can't miss these discrimination aspects.
1、 Combustion method:
Nylon (commonly known as nylon) is quickly rolled and melted into a white jelly near the flame. It burns in the flame and drips and produces small bubbles. When burning, there is almost no flame and it is blue. When it breaks away from the flame, it will stop burning and self extinguish, giving off an amino smell or celery smell. After cooling, it is a hard and black round bead shaped melt and the fingers are not easy to grind.
The polyester will melt near the flame, and will melt in the flame. There will be a yellow flame when burning. The edge of the flame is blue, and there will be black smoke. It will burn intermittently when separated from the flame, and it will also self extinguish, giving out a fragrant smell. After burning, the ash will be a dark brown hard lump, which can be twisted with your fingers.
PP ribbon (polypropylene ribbon) will melt and shrink when it is close to the flame. If it burns in the flame, it will melt and there will be flames. The upper flame is yellow and the lower one is blue. If it leaves the fire, it will continue to burn and emit a paraffin smell. After burning, the ash is light yellowish brown particles, which can be twisted with fingers.
2、 Hand feel:
Nylon feels comfortable, smooth and soft. When it is tightened by hand, it will be loosened. If there are creases, it will recover slowly. When it is scratched with nails, there will be no obvious scratches.
The polyester has a slightly rough feel. There are wrinkles after being squeezed and loosened by hand. There are still some creases after being flattened. There are obvious scratches after being scratched with nails.
The handle of PP ribbon is rough compared with nylon and polyester, the ribbon color is relatively dull, and the yarn is relatively thick.
3、 Buoyancy:
Cut the yarn a little, twist it into balls and put it in water. When the water is saturated, the PP fiber floats on the water and the nylon or polyester fiber sinks down.
4、 Staining:
Nylon ribbon is dyed after ribbon, and the yarn after cutting is white due to uneven dyeing. PP ribbon is dyed before ribbon, and the yarn after cutting is dyed.
5、 Acid and alkalinity resistance
Nylon belt is alkali resistant but not acid resistant. 37.5% hydrochloric acid can be dissolved. It is poor in light resistance and water resistance, and its strength decreases after long exposure and turns yellow,
Polyester is alkali resistant but not acid resistant. A certain concentration of alkali destroys the surface of polyester at a certain temperature, making the fabric feel soft, with good corrosion resistance and light resistance.
PP webbing is alkali and acid resistant.
